Described by Brendy in his Dicey Dungeons review, Cavanagh’s latest is a charming “make-your-own-luck” dice-rolling deck-builder with some powerful Saturday morning cartoon vibes. This week’s patch doesn’t dramatically change the game, instead quietly adding some very welcome additions to the game’s dice pool. On the technical side, Update 1.8 adds gamepad support to Dicey Dungeons along with two new(ish) enemies: the Bounty Hunter and Drain Monster. It’s fitting that Dragon Age: Inquisition should be heading up the new drops, considering a scuffle over Dragon Age 2’s DLC situation is largely why EA gave Steam the cold shoulder in the first place. Since I’ve been playing Monster Hunter Rise, which is largely a succession of ever escalating boss fights with big lizards, I’ve begun comparing these scuffles with Elden Ring’s boss battles. And I reckon much of their differences come down to the simple health bar, or lack of it.
