The new Bamco tech support page says that on PC, the game will support resolutions up to 3840x2160, will run at a framerate of “up to 60fps” (so presumably capped), will support HDR, and will support raytracing via a PC. Not a huge amount of info, but it’s something. That page also has info on framerates, resolutions, and save compatibility for the various PlayStations and Xboxes. Still waiting on Elden Ring’s PC system requirements....

As spotted by Gaming On Linux, the latest Proton Experimental patch includes the FFXIV launcher fix alongside a host of other improvements, like fixing video playback in Ghostwire: Tokyo and some crash-proofing for Elden Ring - itself a previous beneficiary of ongoing Proton development. Previously, trying to launch the FFXIV launcher would make it hang forever; this update should make sure it opens as expected, granting passage into the game proper....

First revealed back in January, Forever Skies was originally meant to launch into early access before the end of the year. However, the team said they’ve been inundated with feedback following the game’s October Steam Next Fest demo, which reached more than 80,000 players. “We’re now looking at a much larger influx of players picking up the game during Early Access than originally predicted,” they said. “So we want to lay down better foundations for more of our core mechanics so everyone can get a much clearer idea of what else to expect from the future of Forever Skies”....

Golf With Your Friends is, y’know, crazy golf inside a computer. That means courses can do foolish things impossible or unsafe on your local course. You can play solo but it clearly is intended for multiplayer, with online and hot seat options. It also has a level editor with Steam Workshop support. I recently discovered that many Americans do not know the term “crazy golf.” Apparently it’s better known to them as “mini golf,” as if bouncing glow-in-the-dark balls off dinosaur skulls under blacklight was normal golf, and mini golf just shrunk that game down to fit into a leisure complex....

The situation sucks for the Stadia team, and the numerous developers who were caught short by Google’s failure to communicate Stadia’s imminent demise. If you’ve spent the past three years mostly buying games through Stadia though then crikey, that’s a nice windfall. If you’ve bought any Stadia hardware, i.e the controllers, then Google are now encouraging you to check your email to see if they’ve asked where you want your money sending....

Introduced to the comics in 2011, the Court of Owls are a secret society of posh folk who have secretly ruled Gotham for centuries. They’ve done a pretty poor job of that, haven’t they. They became the Batbaddies in in Batprequel TV show Gotham for a bit too. The 8in display sounds particularly intriguing. Its resolution of 1280x800 means it doesn’t have a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, but cramming that many pixels onto an 8in screen does actually give it a higher pixel density than most laptop displays.
