Looks like it’s very much doing that sort of thing, y’know....

I do love a good Lego game. They tend to mostly revolve around the big important scenes from the films they’re based off of, so you get to play the interesting stuff without too much faff in between. The trailer shows things like Darth Maul and Obi Wan’s epic lightsaber battle, some excellent podracing, Rey and Kylo’s stand-offs and plenty of cool Lego-ified space battles. You’ll be able to play as all the characters from the big nine Star Wars films, but there’ll also be a Deluxe Edition which adds in a bunch from the spin-offs, like Rogue One and The Mandolorian....

And as you unfold it with the powers of your intellect, you are subjected to the story of Michael and Kenzie’s relationship. It’s one that starts off all rosy, but gradually deflates as time goes by. The feelings go from big, to small. I’d say my own lie somewhere in between at a solid medium....

Mojang announced the DLC in a segment during this evening’s Minecraft Live stream. “We received a lot of requests for a PC version of Monster Hunter Rise, particularly from overseas players, and so we have decided to develop a version for PC, which we aim to release in early 2022,” producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told IGN. Monster Hunter Rise will let players hunt and explore in an open world in four player co-op. You’ll be tracking down lots of brand new beasts and you’ll do it with a new companion, the Palamute....

You’re attempting to revive the town by starting a fishing business and, along the way, doing the usual stuff: discovering fish, upgrading equipment, chatting with the locals, and so on. I’m not sure where I lie in the fishing versus inventory Tetris debate, but I do like a good, physical fishing minigame - even if I’d normally prefer to throw the fish back afterwards....

Hell Is Us is a third-person explore-o-action game set in a “semi-open world” in a country threatened by both civil war and a strange situation spawning supernatural beings invulnerable to most harm. Handily, we can murder ’em with our pet drone as well as swords, axes, and spears. And yep, I have no idea what it actually plays like, but I appreciate their attempts to invoke Annhilation. “Our goal with Hell is Us is to bring back true adventure and exploration,” said creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête....

Combat in Mortal Shell is brutal. A couple of hits from an enemy will chunk your health bar down to nothing and it’s easy to totally mistime a dodge. Parrying is an option, but it’s a tough one. Time it perfectly and you’ll not only deal massive damage, but also hit them with a special effect too. To even parry, you’ll need a special item. And then it’s a case of getting to grips with the timing and execution....

Rick, Stripe, and Black Adam are all due to turn up at some point during MultiVersus season one, which ends on November 15th. Game director Tony Huynh tweeted yesterday that “Rick is cool”, so I’m anticipating we’ll get to see more of the weird scientist pretty soon. The competitive MultiVersus account also tweeted this week that “the smartest man in the universe is coming very soon”. Nonetheless, it could still be Stripe or Black Adam, or even a totally out of the blue fighter who’s not been revealed at all yet....

But My Exercise, a new, comic masterpiece from animated filmmaker Atsushi Wada about a slightly chubby boy doing sit-ups with his dog, has come to my rescue. It is not a proper exercise game, I should note. All you do is semi-rhythmically tap the space bar to make the boy go up and down into the soft, plush and pliable fur of his rather nonplussed pet shiba inu. But man alive, the things that happen in this game to try and distract you from your task are intense....

Instead of a job simulator, it comes across as a self-actualisation exercise. I fully expected it to end on a record scratch and to find out that she’s been sitting on the toilet eating cereal out of a cat litter bin. But no, reality never intruded on Life. All the professions are separate games, all developed by different developers. The first one coming out, Train Life: A Railway Simulator, is made by Simteract, whose previous game is Carpool Simulator....

Next month will be the tenth birthday of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. Last month, a leak suggested the game might be getting a remaster. And today, Electronic Arts have a Need For Speed announcement planned. Coincidence? I think not. I definitely think not, actually, because it looks like this new announcement has been leaked early, too. Ahead of EA’s big reveal later today, a new rumour claims that Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is coming out on November 6th....
