Corrupt the Waters even synergises with itself. There’s no need to compromise your deck or playstyle in order to complete the Quest, it just gives extra value and power to your existing cards. The deck hasn’t seen quite as drastic a change as some others after the Doom in the Tomb event put a load of Wild cards back in Standard, but Evolve is one that’s proving rather strong in this deck....

The report doesn’t mention who they sold YoYo Games to, but some investigative folks on the Game Maker forums noticed that employees at Opera, developers of reasonably popular browser software, have been appointed as YoYo Games directors. Companies House has filings which confirm that. This kind of acquisition is nervy stuff for game developers. Game Maker and its various iterations is a popular, vital tool for creating games, particularly 2D games, and relatively inexpensive when compared to some of its peers....

Splash Damage say that you’ll get a chance to play as your favourite TFs in their robot and vehicle alt modes, though, changing between both “seamlessly”....

Kuki Shinobu is a four-star Electro support character who is the sidekick of Geo character Arataki Itto, and deputy leader of the Arataki Gang. Update 2.7 also brings a new Archon quest in The Chasm region of Genshin Impact, which promises to reveal more about the history of the Liyue region and the Yakshas beasts from 500 years ago....

The strategy layer of Skylines isn’t super-great but it’s a lovely game for building nice cities, watching them bustle away, and seeing what happens when you poke, prod, and get carried away with silly massive infrastructure projects. I have seen too many poo lagoons. We’ve slathered Cities: Skylines in Bests across the years. We’ve called it one of the best games of the 2010s, the best building games, the best non-violent games, the best management games… it’s good, y’see?...

Cayo Perico is a quick heist, and it can even be completed solo. While you won’t finish one heist then suddenly be able to buy a yacht, repeating it is faster and more fun than consulting player-made spreadsheets to optimise output of in-game businesses. Which means many more players are living the high life and can splash cash on frivilous flexes like the superyacht. The least they can do is remember the guy whose money filled your wallet....

“You play as the wind guiding the Pupils, a tribe that must reach the center of the world,” say the developers at Unexpected. “You’ll have to manage their resources, their buildings, and their lives. Help them grow wiser through agriculture, crafting, scientific and mystical research before the world is submerged.” I quite like the look of it—from the autumn colors, to the giant hairy oxen carrying the village, to the smaller cloak-wearing Pupils that appear to be animals themselves....

Hard Lads is a painstaking recreation of viral 2015 video British Lads Hit Each Other With Chair - wherein one lad kisses his eventual attacker, downs his drink, smashes it on the group, lights up a cig, and is promptly clobbered with a deck chair. You’ll want to watch that first, yeah? A self-described “masculinity simulator”, there’s a beautiful simplicity to Hard Lads’ interactive recreation. Yang’s rendition of a grim, dreary English backlot is shockingly accurate, populated by action-figure analogues to the video’s topless blokes....

The video is split into chapters, and the Harvestella showcase begins around the 49m 20s mark. Harvestella’s world is kept stable by four giant crystals, and its protagonist is an amnesiac found sleeping in a field. So far, so trope-y, but the story gets a little more interesting due to Omens. Omens are armored figures believed to be responsible for the Quietus, a season that keeps getting longer during which the townspeople’s crops all die, and one of them crashes to earth inside a comet at the start of the game....

One of our most anticipated games of 2022, Have A Nice Death sees you take on the role of an overworked Death, whose pesky employees have started to run rampant while you’ve been filling out a world’s worth of paperwork. With no choice but to get things done the old-fashioned way, it’s time to pick up your scythe and get back out into the field. Magic Design Studios are on primary development duty here, but Dead Cells’ Sébastien Bénard has also been directly involved in its creation - and many of you will know that Dead Cells is one of our favourite action games of all time....

It’s not often that game advertising themselves as funny are actually funny, is it? But Don’t Give Up is genuinely hilarious. I proper laughed out loud all the time, despite the often very serious subject matter. It’s also very accurate and often poignant. There’s a scene where the main character has to go to a party, and gets progressively drunk and has increasingly weird and awkward interactions with people that is absolutely fantastic....

At first I thought he was just some drunk who’d put on a Santa outfit for a laugh. He certainly didn’t act like Santa, and goodness the language! Ranting about “this manure-pile of a new generation” and how “Parents are losers, idiots” and “the real problem” of the world. What would Mrs Claus think? But then he started talking about how he remembers everyone he meets and how, as a child, my driver had such god-awful handwriting that his letters to the North Pole were practically impossible to decipher....
