Its creators, the Trese Brothers (it’s pronounced “Trese”), have just successfully funded their new game, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint on Kickstarter. They met their goal in under 12 hours. Like Frontiers, which was also partly crowdfunded, it’s an original RPG set in the same world as one of their earlier mobile games, but ramping up the scope, ambition, and production values. I took the opportunity to corner them with some questions about their studio and their plans for the new game....

“NexusGuy999’s” Freefly mod works almost a bit like Minecraft’s creative mode. You’re able to jump into the air by pressing your space bar, then control your movement and whoosh around using WASD. Before we stick the soundtrack on, CD Projekt premiered a new, Silverhand-centric trailer explaining the relationship between the rocker and the player character - before just letting Keanu riff on camera for a bit to talk about his voiceover and motion capture process. Charming as the guy is, they do eventually move on to chat about the game’s soundtrack. Now, we’ve already had a good sense of the general soundscape of Night city for some time now with the reveal of the game’s artist and song list - and tonight’s show doubled down on that with a few shoutouts from folks from Grimes....

The full list of changes is long, but there’s no single standout. For PC players they’ve fixed issues around switching resolutions, changing the default language and detecting corrupted game data. There are also some general fixes, such as, “an issue where dropping a NPC’s body caused too much destruction.” Is too much destruction even possible? Everything else is fixes to specific quests, including characters and quest items that could appear in the wrong place, NPC messages could appear at the wrong time, and several bugs that could halt progress....

Red Hook say Altar Of Hope is a “wholesale rework of the fundamental underpinnings” of metagame and progression for Darkest Dungeon 2. This means your current expeditions, item unlocks, and hero availability will be reset if you choose to enable the update, so be forewarned. Hero backstory unlocks and skill unlocks are sticking around, though. You’ll also get 20 of the new Candles Of Hope for your trouble. Candles Of Hope are collected by your party on their travels and can be cashed in for upgrades and perks, as well as character unlocks and trinkets, when you rock up home safely....

But what is it really? Well. It’s DayZ again. Players appear in random, probably forested spots on an large island, carrying almost nothing and with no clear instructions but the implied understanding that someone will definitely try to kill you before long, so you’d better look for weapons and supplies. Food and water are concerns, although not as immediately pressing as finding a gun in one of the scattered villages, farmhouses, and derelict cars....

As it turns out, Colt Vahn is an amnesiac who seems to have woken up on a beach with no memory of why he’s on Deathloop’s party island, Blackreef. Your goal in Deathloop is to take out eight Visionaries, intelligent party-lovers who’ve locked an island into one repeating day so they can piss about for eternity....

The Lie started last Tuesday with a mammoth communal goal to grind Seraph Towers, the seasonal activity about defending zones to charge Rasputin’s satellite launches. The Towers being a bit dull by now and difficult to complete with whichever random pubbies happen to pass by, the goal was looking like unlikely to get hit this season. So Bungie whammed on a huge multiplier and it was completed on Sunday. Soon after, we discovered the final step of quest was bugged and wouldn’t start....

Devolver describe the game as “a first-person ‘marketing simulator’ set within an abandoned convention centre after the annual Devolver Digital game expo was mysteriously cancelled.” The show’s cancelled but security bots are roaming, so you might want to grab a t-shirt cannon to thwomp ’em down. Bit of stealth, a little action, mild puzzles… that’s a game alright. And yes, you can watch trailers for Devolver’s games while playing. I mean, they’re pretty up-front that it’s marketing....

Having first clapped eyes on Dome Keeper back at PAX East earlier in the year, I was instantly struck by its gorgeous pixel art and impressive sense of scale - neither of which have dimmed on its final release. The alien worlds you visit during each run are frequently stunning to behold, and I often wished I could break free of the bounds of my protective little dome and go exploring....

Valve say 1.0 will be ready by the end of next month, and will introduce a Battlepass, UI updates, and a revamped Hero/ Item rotation. It will also include the City Crawl, which Valve haven’t described but I suspect will resemble Dota 2’s Cavern Crawl and more recent Jungle Expedition. They’re nothing dramatic, just a more deliberate way of unlocking cosmetics by choosing extra goals in normal games. The post also mentions there’ll be one more update before the big one, tossing in a fourth Underlord....

In traditional RPG fashion, there world’s befallen a disaster that your heroes are in charge of defeating. “The world of Heryon is torn apart,” Midgar Studio say. “Years ago, the arrival of a mysterious alien force ultimately plunged the planet into an endless cataclysmic war where both magic and technology were unleashed to their worst and darkest extremes. Now an even greater threat has emerged: in a despicable act of war, the invaders released the Corrosion, a fatal disease turning living forms of all kinds into misshapen abominations....

Here’s a trailer, which breaks down the changes and additions. Those changes include: better balls, better kicking of balls, and a “Dream Team” mode where you can construct your own squad and level their stats. It’s pretty basic stuff, made fancy by an accompanying press release which claims that “the help of research institutes in Japan” has led to a more natural ball trajectory. There are also now “Stunning Kicks”, which are a special type of pass, cross or through-ball described as “ground-breaking....
