Colors: Ultimate is a remaster of a 2010 platformer originally for the Wii, remastered in time for Sonic’s 30th birthday. It was well recieved by fans at the time, so I suppose HD-ifying it now makes sense. But if I pick through the blue dust left in Sonic Colors Ultimate’s wake, I’m left with the feeling that I just prefer the going-fast hedgehog when he’s focused on going fast. 11 years ago, Sonic travelled to Doctor Eggman’s evil theme-park and stopped him from enslaving an alien race of wisps in Sonic Colors....
A trademark listing for Soulframe was spotted back in May and noted on Reddit, but this is the first confirmation that it really exists and is a discrete thing of its own that isn’t part of Warframe. On the reveal, Soulframe Creative Director Geoff Crookes said: Digital Extremes are undergoing something of a reshuffle to accommodate growing their stable of games. You start on a station in the orbit of a planet with the rest of the players (it is multiplayer, and claims to be a single, persistent universe). You mine asteroids, trade, and haul things. Growing out from there will take you to moons and other planets, all in ships you’ve built and tweaked yourself....

If you’d not spotted them popping up in the rest of everywhere recently, they’re essentially digital certificates bestowing proof of ownership of often intangible items. Right at the top of those pages, you’ll now see a carousel of personalised game recommendations that includes a micro-trailer, release date, review score and more about the game. I’m always impressed by the tricks people pull in Teardown’s destrucible world, so I’m quite looking forward to that....
Your attraction and repelling is handled using a device you aim at the different coloured platforms, and by distinct button presses. Clearing the deadly traps is as much about remembering what button to press as it is aiming. Each level is only a single screen and restarts are instant, but it’s still a hard game that got harder fast during the demo. Death is difficult platformers always come due to your error: mis-timing a jump, or misjudging the strength required, say....
Alyx lets you choose between three movement systems, but Valve spend most of their time talking about the two that involve teleportation. That’s where tall people ran into trouble. Designer Greg Coomer starts talking about height at around 4:30. I was initially outraged, after seeing a taller player get treated to a much clearer view of some ammo stacked on a shelf. I thought Coomer was about to mention it, but nope....
