Well, you can push the words around too. ‘Wall is Stop’ can be moved so that Wall is no longer Stop, meaning you can just pass through the wall like it isn’t there. It’s at this point you start to think of the objects less in terms of their real-world capacities, like a wall blocking you off from the next area, and more as a series of objects which can take different forms with many different effects....

But, I like it. Yeah, I said it. I like Borderlands 3. I really rate it as a co-op romp in which you take on quests featuring dick jokes, and watch numbers fly out of enemies. I understand the humour’s quite cringe, but it still gets me, because my brain re-calibrates. It lowers the judgmental barriers and ushers in the streaming gaffs and silly pop culture references. It says “come on in, it’s time for a few chuckles” and God love me, it works....

Frozen Cortex takes teams of somehow sleek-yet-chunky robots and makes them compete in a wisely stripped down derivative of Americaball. It’s not as cruel as it may sound, and its amusing, gently satirical near future setting wisely keeps out of the way of the tactical sport fun. It compares best, of course, to Mode 7’s own Frozen Synapse, but I find Cortex much less taxing to play. Teams of 5 players take turns to pick up and run or throw a ball past their opponents to the endzone, while the other team tries to intercept their passes or bodyslam the ball carrier to steal some points back....

If you’ve been keeping up with details about murder man’s next game, you may recall that Io have already introduced Chongqing, Dubai, and Dartmoor as three of the stops along the trip. They’ve now unveiled all six, announcing plans to take Agent 47 to Germany, Argentina, and Romania as well. That last one they say will be the epilogue of the game set in the Carpathian Mountains. “Each location has been crafted to deliver a unique and memorable gameplay experience, from the game’s first mission at the tallest building in the world through to the dramatic epilogue that concludes the trilogy in style with a narrative-focused finale,” they say....

Year Two starts on the 20th of January, one year to the day after it first launched. This means its Epic Games Store exclusivity is up, so Hitman 3 will come to Steam.
