The inclusion of Hypermotion2 means that the PC version of FIFA 23 will be in line with what players experience on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia. That’s good for more than one reason, because the new game will also allow crossplay between all current-gen platforms, PC and Stadia – just only in 1v1 mode. EA also confirmed that FIFA 23 would feature two officially licensed World Cups for the first time: World Cup Qatar 2022 and the Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023....

While I’m sure he contributed more than tinkling mood music for an optional quest, Ghostwire has been framed as a debutante ball for the next generation of Tango talent. In Archipel’s ace interview series Mikami spoke about fostering new creative leads and taking more of a backseat compared to his work on The Evil Within, which was more clearly made in the Resi mold. The result is, by design, the studio’s least Mikami-ish romp to date: a sprawling tale of a metropolis turned ghost town that is one part love letter to the city and its urban legends, and an opportunity to zap headless school girls and floating puppets with electrifying particle effects....

I am extremely here for the point three minutes in, where Master Chef rescues some grateful soldiers with his jeep then proceeds to drive right off a cliff. Look, you could consider them rescued for at least two seconds, and isn’t that better than never rescued at all? For a six-minute “overview”, that did seem weirdly vague. You can guess at a lot of what they’re showing, building on earlier hints and glimpses, but specifics are a little thin....

The problem seems to be that players identify the Halo series with couch co-op. That’s got some going as far as calling Infinite a game “held together with duct tape and broken dreams”. Others are just disappointed that they won’t be able to play co-op with their family. Halo Infinite is the first open-world game for Big John Halo though, so you can argue that the series is having to move with the times....

I’ve played a curated, two hour slice of Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, and I’m keen to play more. As speedy as my sword boy felt in those moments, though, at other times I felt compelled to move forward at a crawl. When I asked creative director Noah Decter-Jackson whether I was just being too cowardly, he hedged his bets. Other turn-based strategy game comparisons are available, but the simplest and easiest way to describe Chaos Gate is something like ‘XCOM in space with tanky supersoldiers, no miss-chances and an emphasis on aggressive melee combat’....

While it’s dubious that the game portrays gunning down legions of people as debonaire, you can’t really beat Max Payne’s eminently quick-loadable shootouts. There’s more of a puzzle game within each level than you’d twig at first glance. To realise that Max is essentially clearing rooms of mobster mooks in a form of gunfire-based Minesweeper only occurs when bullet time becomes second nature. It’s in the moments between the bullets whizzing at you that pathways and solutions take shape, in an almost Zen-like manner....

He and his band absolutely crushing Ready To Die (Mr. W.K. proving he is indeed a very accomplished piano player in the process) whilst the camera kept cutting to Bethesda’s visibly bemused live audience of tired journalists and industry investors and producers - one woman even has her mouth hanging open - broke something within me and I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe and nearly fell off my chair....

The island itself is very beautiful, and made of a few roughly defined areas - biomes, almost. A foresty bit, a ruined village, a desert, a sort-of swamp, a beach, and so on. Each area has a new set of puzzles, which are simple at first, to teach you their fundamental rules, but grow more and more complicated. They mostly involve drawing lines on a little puzzle pad, sometimes in response to stimuli in the world....

It’s too much for me, but it is fascinating. You start off with dreams and a spade. If you want prosperity, you’ll need to muck in directly to make it happen. There’s a crafting ladder to climb, where tools and buildings let you shape the future of your own pet species. You can wall in animals for controlled breeding programs, carefully pairing off those with desired traits. Maybe you’re after a better sense of smell, or superior water retention....
