The Seagate Barracuda Fast SSD comes in three sizes right now: 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. I was sent the middle 1TB drive to test, which currently goes for £121 / $138. For a brief, beautiful moment last night, Sony were good to PC gaming. Their PlayStation 5 Showcase focused on their new console, sure, but they did let the Final Fantasy XVI announcement confirm a PC release, and they did reveal the Demon’s Souls remaster is coming to PC too. For a company cagey about even acknowledging the existence of other platforms, this was delightful. Then Square Enix and Sony both said ’lol whoops typo, didn’t mean to say that lmao’ and walked back the PC announcements....

Spelunky 2 blasts off to the Moon to explore more levels of caves and ruins, down and down through different biomes with strange wildlife and stranger mysteries. It’s a roguelike sorta thing, with procedurally-generated levels and all sorts of secrets and surprising interactions between systems to discover, learn, and ultimately use to your advantage. And lots of deaths that make you start a new run, obvs. As our Graham has written about before, the process of discovery is a joy....

As part of the update, the base game has been renamed Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition, containing the latest and all previous additional content. This final update adds two new spirits you can bring aboard your boat (and carry towards their end): Jackie the Hyena and Daria the Bat. Jackie is a caretaker of a rundown hospital, and Daria is his “most notable patient.” Thunder Lotus put out a trailer for Jackie and Daria last week, seen above, which shows the characters as well as the new Overbrook island and what I’m guessing is the new event, called “Mind Palace....

Any trailer will reveal at once how it works. At its most vanilla, you’re racking up kills in a team deathmatch using carbines, plasma rifles, shotguns, SMGs, rocket launchers - all the usual suspects (most of them with a familiar Halo “pop”). But you’re also flicking out portals with a tap of a button. You can only place portals on certain blue mesh surfaces. But there’s no cooldown for the ability, and you can close portals with a tap....

Running from today through November 2nd, The Steam Halloween Sale 2020 is back, with bone-chilling discounts on countless games regardless of how scary they may be. If you are in the mood for a scare, though, then this year’s event does conveniently offer different lineups for Horror games, plus non-horror works that just happen to contain terrifying themes. As well as sorting by genre or features (co-op, third-person, VR), there’s a special carousel slot for games currently running haunting Halloween events....

On the 25th of December, 2021, reports went round the Internet that the Steam storefront and community pages were not accessible in China. Many assumed that authorities had finally banned the global version of Steam. Some subsequent reports claimed that it was ‘DNS poisoning’ preventing people from accessing the store, which some people took to mean it was an attack by wrong’uns rather than censorship. Steam is not outright down in China, mind....

The major addition is that of two new campaigns: Barony Of Loth, due to arrive in the spring, and the Barya campaign, aiming for release in the autumn. Those will bring the game’s total campaigns up to four. Songs Of Conquest will receive a new ‘Battlegrounds’ mode this year, which will allow players to skip the kingdom management and building parts of the game in favour of pure turn-based battling....

Well, allow me to dispel your illusions right away: Sucker For Love: First Date is not an H-game. It is, in fact, the most chaste dating sim I think I’ve ever played, while also managing to be the most obscenely graphic. You often hear games that straddle different genres accused of not knowing what they’re trying to be. Sucker For Love does not suffer from this issue: it knows exactly what it wants to be....
